HOW TO GIVE YOURSELF A MANICURE AT HOME

HOW TO GIVE YOURSELF A MANICURE AT HOME

There’s nothing a fresh manicure can’t fix! Give yourself a salon-like experience in the comfort of home. Be sure to get all of your supplies together–nail clippers, nail polish, nail polish remover, cuticle pusher, etc.–and set up your workplace. Whether you’re looking to expand your skill set or save some money, here is a step-by-step guide to master your at-home manicure.

1. START OFF WITH OUR ALL-IN-ONE MANI IN A BOX

Give your hands the ultimate care. First, exfoliate with the sugar scrub to remove dead skin cells. Massage it onto your hands and forearms, then wipe off with a damp towel. Then, use the mud masque for a deep cleanse. Apply it on your hands and leave it on for 3-5 minutes. Wipe it off and pat your skin dry. Soothe your skin with massage butter for instant hydration. Apply onto hands and arms and gently massage until absorbed.

2. DEEPLY MOISTURIZE HANDS, ARMS, & ELBOWS

Apply our Youth Therapy Elbow-High Gloves for an intensive hydrating treatment from your fingers up to your elbows. Secure the sticker for a perfect fit. Leave the fingertips on for 3-5 minutes, then remove them to prep your nails.

4. CLIP & SNIP

Trim off excess growth with a nail clipper to achieve your desired length. If you prefer longer nails, feel free to skip this step.

5. FILE AWAY

Use a nail file to buff your nails into your favorite shape. The most popular choices are square, round, or oval, but the choice is always up to you.

6. BUFF YOUR NAILS

Use a gentle buffing block to smooth the nail surface and eliminate ridges. This step will add some shine to your nails and help your polish last even longer. Be careful not to buff too much, or the nail will become too thin and brittle.

7. CARE FOR YOUR CUTICLES

Apply a cuticle oil or cream to soften your cuticles. Use a cuticle pusher to gently push back excess skin and make your nails appear longer. If you have a trimming tool, you can remove unruly cuticles, but be careful not to cut your skin. Just gently snip off the edge and do not pull it off from the base.

8. PAINT YOUR NAILS

Start with a clear base coat to prevent pigmented nail polishes from staining your nails. Choose your favorite polish color and apply it evenly in three strokes: one directly down the middle, followed by one on the left and right. After your first coat dries (usually about two minutes), apply a second coat for more coverage. Remember, to apply it in thin strokes to avoid a clumpy appearance. If you prefer to keep your nails natural and bare, skip this step! Tip: If you are new at painting your nails, try using a light color at first to practice, as mistakes are less visible.

9. ADD THE FINISHING TOUCHES

Tidy up any mistakes with a cotton swab or cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover. Protect your work of art with a top coat to prevent your polish from smudging or chipping and help it stand the test of time. Let your nails dry for approximately 10-15 minutes. If you are using a fan, don’t put your nails too close to it or your nail polish may bubble.

10. REMOVE YOUTH THERAPY ELBOW-HIGH GLOVES

Say hello to silky-smooth skin and fresh nails. Remove the gloves and wear them inverted to massage excess lotion into your hands, arms, and elbows for rejuvenated skin.
